The 2009 update to the Head MicroGel Extreme offers an eye-catching new cosmetic and a DuPont Teflon grommet system that reduces friction. Less friction means maintaining more of the strings energy, and a resulting slight increase in power. Specifications are nearly identical to the previous generation MicroGel Extreme - a true 'tweener frame -100 sq. in. head, 27.25" length, 24mm/26mm beam, and 11.1 oz. strung weight.

Head continues with the rounded geometrics of the racquet head. This increased width can allow the ball to slide across a wider stringbed, generating greater spin velocity and providing more power.

The 2009 Head Extreme also offers aggressive, competitive players ultimate feel and unique touch through a new patented technology called MicroGel. When combined with carbon composite fibers in the racquet head, MicroGel deforms and compresses upon ball impact, uniformly absorbing and distributing the impact load around the entire frame, creating a rock-solid feel while offering extra stability against twisting.
